One of the most simple and easiest breakfast treats to make is french toast. I'm surprised that I don't make it more often, but if I'm going to have an unhealthy first meal of the day, I'll usually whip up a batch of bluberry waffles. Since I had a fresh bag of thick white bread, a rarity in my house as it's usually flax seed or multi grain, I decided to make an exception and grill some french toast on Sunday.
If you haven't made it for yourself before, all you need to do is beat together 2-3 eggs, 2 tbsps of milk, and however much cinnamon you like in a shallow dish (you can throw in a splash of vanilla - if you're feeling fancy). The key component to make it a hit is the bread - the thicker the better. Soak your bread in the egg mixture on each side for two seconds and throw it on a hot pan with melted butter until it browns on both sides. And there you have it!
I top mine with butter and real maple syrup, I'm Canadian afterall, but if I have fresh fruit in the house, I'll toss that on top too.
